Back in Action

I'm back in Incheon International Airport in Korea's capital city, smack dab in the middle of a 7 hour layover. After spending 14 hours on a place in a middle seat (limiting my arms to T-rex style usage only), I arrived here at about 3:00 in the morning Korea-time, then had to wait about another three hours until anything in the airport opened. Oh, the joys of travelling.

During my American vacation, the most frequent of all FAQs was "How long are you going to stay in Taiwan?"

The only answers I can give to that are ones that beg more questions. Instead of giving myself a deadline, I can only say that my return to Taiwan today is basically the start of a brand new life.

I have a new apartment in a new city, two new bosses at two new schools, with new classes with new ages and levels everywhere from 3-12 years old. The only things familiar that I am returning to are people that I know. Everything else is the start of a brand new journey...

So the literal answer is "at least a year," due to contractual obligations. But the more accurate and simultaneously more abstract answer is more along the lines of "as long as it takes." Right now there's still more to do, more to see, more to learn, more fun to be had. Just more.

At this point in my life, the United States is the perfect place for a vacation.
