First of all, for those who haven't heard, Idle-Free Taipei was entered in a Carbon-Reducing contest (held by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Bureau of Energy) and we placed 3rd overall!!!

although we haven't held an "Idle-Free" event in 2 months, the cause is picking up momentum by itself! The website is getting more hits, and more importantly, I've personally noticed a LOT more people turning off their engines at red lights! This is exciting!!!

We need to capitalize on this momentum as soon as possible. This Saturday, September 24 at 12:00 noon, we will have another "Idle-Free Taipei: Advocating Clean Air" promotion event at Zhongxiao Dunhua intersection. This location is the heart of Taipei City and Idle-Free Taipei will receive a LOT of attention!
On the 24th, our volunteers will be helping to distribute informational business cards to encourage drivers to go "idle-free." Additionally, to drive home the message that POLLUTION IS BAD FOR YOUR BODY we will be distributing CO2 masks to drivers who don't have them. We also have some beautiful made up with facts about cancer, pollution and its adverse effects, and the benefits of being "idle-free." To top it all off, Captain Air will be there singing songs about pollution, which scooters drivers find hilarious!!
Basically, this Saturday will be the start of a Revolution against Pollution that will spread around Taipei City, starting from US, the people WE MEET, and all the way into weekday scooter commuters that spend over 15 minutes per day at red lights!!!!!!!
Here's how we can help:
1. BE THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Idle-Free Taipei is neck-deep in people who "like" us and "like" our ideas. We need you (and your friend) to show up and spend some quality time with the people who are going to help us change the hearts and minds of Taipei residents. If you can't make it, send somebody on your behalf. ****I've found that the only way people show up is if you actually look them in the eye and talk to them.****
2. Invite EVERYBODY on Facebook. Between the people who read this post, we can get over 5,000 invites over the next 5 days, guaranteed. We can probably even get over 100 people to click "Attending." The truth is that probably less than 20 will show up, but the main point here is exposure. With any luck, even the people who don't RSVP will learn a thing or two about idling/pollution.
